Republican lawmakers reintroduce bill to repeal gun-free school zones

A Republican lawmaker has reintroduced a bill to eliminate gun-free zones in America’s schools.

Last week, Republican Rep. Thomas Massie reintroduced a 2007 bill, the “Safe Students Act” (H.R. 3200) originally introduced by Rep. Ron Paul, which seeks the repeal of the 1990 Gun-Free School Zones Act, according to Newsweek.

The Gun-Free School Zones Act was introduced by former Sen. Joe Biden in 1990 and made up part of the Crime Control Act of 1990.

A statement from Massie’s office said the new bill would get rid of the current “one-size fits all federal ban on guns” in areas immediately around schools that bans people from carrying a gun within 1,000 feet of public or private school grounds.

Hong Kong protests: Leader Carrie Lam refuses to scrap extradition law

Hong Kong’s embattled leader has refused to say that she will scrap an extradition law that has prompted massive protests and shrugged off calls for her resignation.

Carrie Lam apologised again for trying to introduce the law and acknowledged that it was unlikely she could win public trust for the bill, which would allow some suspects to face trial in mainland Chinese courts. Critics say that it could be abused by Beijing to extradite pro-democracy activists and political opponents from the semi-autonomous territory into the mainland’s opaque and politicised judicial system.

Sex Predator or #MeToo Prey?

This was 12 days after an exposé of Harvey Weinstein had launched the #MeToo movement. It was just hours after the Los Angeles Times had published a letter denouncing “pervasive” sexual misconduct in California’s capital that was signed by 140 legislators, senior aides, lobbyists, and other women, including Lopez.

She instantly became the most famous face of the #MeToo movement in California politics – with the Los Angeles Times discussing her allegations 10 times in the next two months. Lopez called a press conference on December 4, 2017 to accuse Dababneh of being the alleged perpetrator.

Lopez, then 35 years old, claimed in that news conference – and in a letter to the Assembly the same day – that almost two years before, on Jan. 16, 2016, Dababneh had done what she had previously alleged to the Times. (She did not file a police report in 2016.) At the news conference, however, she placed the incident in a Las Vegas hotel suite during a pre-wedding party, not a Sacramento bar. A Lopez acquaintance, Jessica Yas Barker, appeared at the news conference and added a claim of inappropriate sex talk by Dababneh more than five years earlier.

Donald Trump: U.S., Guatemala Negotiate Legal Wall Against Migrants

The United States and Guatemala are preparing to sign a “safe third country” agreement to help curb Central American migration, a late-night Monday tweet from President Donald Trump revealed.

If signed, the agreement will give U.S. border officers the legal authority to quickly repatriate migrants who pass through Guatemala, regardless of the catch-and-release loopholes created and preserved by the U.S. Congress and courts. In effect, the deal would create a legal wall against Latin American, African, and Indian migrants who pass through Guatemala.

The tweet also said enforcement agencies will accelerate the repatriation of “millions” of illegal immigrants — even though Democrats and many establishment GOP legislators are blocking the legal reforms and funding needed to repatriate more than a small percentage of the more-than-11-million illegal migrants now living throughout the United States.

Britain occupied it for over a 100 years and then gave it back

Hong Kong returned to China

At midnight on July 1, 1997, Hong Kong reverts back to Chinese rule in a ceremony attended by British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Prince Charles of Wales, Chinese President Jiang Zemin, and U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. A few thousand Hong Kongers protested the turnover, which was otherwise celebratory and peaceful.

In 1839, Britain invaded China to crush opposition to its interference in the country’s economic, social, and political affairs. One of Britain’s first acts of the war was to occupy Hong Kong, a sparsely inhabited island off the coast of southeast China. In 1841, China ceded the island to the British with the signing of the Convention of Chuenpi, and in 1842 the Treaty of Nanking was signed, formally ending the First Opium War.

Britain’s new colony flourished as an East-West trading center and as the commercial gateway and distribution center for southern China. In 1898, Britain was granted an additional 99 years of rule over Hong Kong under the Second Convention of Peking. In September 1984, after years of negotiations, the British and the Chinese signed a formal agreement approving the 1997 turnover of the island in exchange for a Chinese pledge to preserve Hong Kong’s capitalist system. On July 1, 1997, Hong Kong was peaceably handed over to China in a ceremony attended by numerous Chinese, British, and international dignitaries. The chief executive under the new Hong Kong government, Tung Chee Hwa, formulated a policy based on the concept of “one country, two systems,” thus preserving Hong Kong’s role as a principal capitalist center in Asia.

New national populist EU group ‘Identity and Democracy’ takes shape

The new name for a formal national populist alliance in the European Parliament has been revealed. In an announcement made on social media, National Rally MEP Thierry Mariani declared, “Identity and Democracy (ID) will be the name of our group in the European Parliament for these five years.”

The newly formed alliance – the successor of the Europe of Nations and Freedom (ENF) group which had 36 seats in the previous parliament – now comprises 73 members of the European Parliament (MEPs).

The group draws from nine of the European Union’s 28 member countries, and includes Italy’s Lega, France’s National Rally, Alternative for Germany, Austria’s Freedom Party, the True Finns Party, the Czech Republic’s Freedom and Direct Democracy, the Danish People’s Party, Estonia’s Conservative People’s Party, and Belgium’s Flemish Interest.

Although Identity and Democracy (ID) itself comprises 10 percent of MEPs in the new European Parliament, it’s actually part of a wider and more informal ‘sovereignist bloc of more-or-less 200’ MEPs who are populists, conservatives, and eurosceptics, according to France’s Marine Le Pen.

Florida First To Waive Driver Requirement For Self-Driving Autos

The world will be watching carefully as driverless and autonomous vehicles flood Florida roads for the first time in an entire state. Other states are right behind Florida, including Arizona and California. ⁃ TN Editor

Florida will allow autonomous vehicles (AVs) to operate on public roads without a human driver starting next month, under a new law signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis, R.

The bill, designed to facilitate more AV testing in the state, sets out a statutory framework for insurance and safety rules for the vehicles. It also exempts AV passengers from distracted driving rules that bar texting and phone use.

The bill was signed at the SunTrax facility, the southeast’s only high-speed AV testing facility, marking the completion of the center’s newest AV test track.

Florida has positioned itself as a leader for AV testing. The state has been allowing companies to test on some public roads and has authorized autonomous shuttles for use in Orlando.

The new law will put Florida on par with other states that have passed progressive laws to encourage automakers and tech startups to bring AV testing. Arizona, California, Utah and Pennsylvania have all pushed policy to make it easier for AVs to operate on public roads. Given the immense interest in AV technology, and the potential for driverless cars to remake mobility, it makes sense for states to try to put themselves on the front line.

Big Tech Asks For More Self-Regulation That Never Worked Anyway

Big Tech created the unmanageable platforms that have created nationwide chaos, but now they want us to trust them yet again to fix the impossible. This won’t ever work. ⁃ TN Editor

Social media giants have responded to mounting pressure from politicians and activist groups. These social media firms are now refereeing content of the angry, polarizing and downright crazy public space those giants themselves created. These platforms are private entities, so they can officiate pretty much as they please. The trick now is for Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and the others to conduct their cleansing operations in ways that are transparent and sensible.

Good luck with that.

It’s more likely Mark Zuckerberg will start wearing bowties.

No doubt, there is a ton of hostile and false nonsense floating around on these sites. The tech giants created these platforms as open forums, so they had to know these sites would attract all kinds of bizarre content, some of it crossing the line into the outrageous. That didn’t seem to bother the tech entrepreneurs over the years, as social media firmly implanted itself into the culture. The tech superstars got rich and famous while society careened into a ravine of harebrained technological determinism.

Now the social media leaders feel compelled to convince the nation they can responsibly manage the unmanageable. Their actions are not so much philanthropic as they are self-preservative. If they were such nice guys, they would have paid more attention to the toxicity as it grew over the years. Now, in response to Congressional anger and pressure for community censorship from cyber mobs, the executives at Facebook, YouTube and Twitter want to act all righteous by deplatforming provocateurs.

NCRI official: Iran regime on the cusp of overthrow

ran, June 17, 2019 - On Sunday, the London-based Al-Sharq al-Awsat wrote: The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran held a rally in Brussels against the Iranian regime.

Mohammad Mohadessin, Chair of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) Foreign Affairs Committee said, “The message of this rally is to inform the world that the Iranian regime is on the cusp of being overthrown and that the Iranian people want an end to this regime.

Referring to the recent attack of Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) to the oil tankers in Oman, Mohaddessin said, "This attack shows that the regime is on the verge of downfall."

Al-Sharq al-Awsat wrote, "Yesterday, the PMOI/MEK-Iranian opposition-gathered its supporters in front of the European Union headquarters in Brussels to send a 'message' to the international community pertaining to the importance of taking a firmer policy towards the Iranian regime. The PMOI urged the international community and the European governments to stop appeasing and negotiating with the Iranian regime and to blacklist [the IRGC and the MOIS].

"Mohaddessin called on Europeans to stop appeasement and offering help to the Iranian regime and to invest in the people of Iran.

"Referring to oil tankers sabotage in Oman, Mohaddessin said, 'The recent attacks in the Gulf of Oman, Al-Fujairah, Saudi Arabia, Baghdad, and other places, are crimes that show the imminent downfall of this regime and its activities are of desperation and critical situation.'"

“The participants of this rally were the PMOI/MEK supporters and activist and former European officials,” added Al-Sharq al-Awsat.

European Parliament Member Mark Demesmaeker said, “The Iranian regime has exported terrorism abroad and targets dissidents around the world. I don’t know why this regime is not on the European terror list! Yet after the sabotage of oil tankers, we're witnessing [Europe] calls for prudence! We have to learn the lesson that appeasing the mullahs yields no results."

The rally organizers said, "The IRGC blacklisting, as well as popular uprisings inside Iran, the activities of resistance units and tough economic sanction, are crippling this regime."

Democrats continue in their desperate attempts to stop or hinder the President with failed Impeach the President rallies and Democrat committee chairs in the House of Representatives conducting their nonstop “investigations” of Donald Trump,

Polls are meaningless, turnout for Trump is amazing

Here come 503 more days of “opinion polls” saying again that Donald Trump will lose the election. This from major media engaged in what is essentially a blackout of attendance numbers at candidate rallies that would show tens and twenties and occasional hundreds at Democrat rallies versus TENS OF THOUSANDS at Trump rallies. People start getting in line to get into his rallies two to three days in advance.

For tonight’s rally at Amway Center in Orlando, where President Trump will officially kick off his campaign, there were 100,000 applications for 20,000 seats.

.

Meanwhile, the Democrats continue in their desperate attempts to stop or hinder the President with failed Impeach the President rallies and Democrat committee chairs in the House of Representatives conducting their nonstop “investigations” of Donald Trump, even though numerous investigations by Mueller, the Southern District of New York prosecutor, and others find no criminal activity by President Trump or his businesses.

On Sunday the apparent Democrat national media spokesperson, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), in agreement with announced Democrat presidential candidates said Donald Trump should be impeached for his “crimes.”

ANGRY ANTI-TRUMP LIBERAL Tells Fox News Reporter To “Go Back To Fox And Pick Cotton” [VIDEO]

Over the weekend, far-left protesters came together to demand that President Trump is impeached from office. Fox News sent one of their reporters, Lawrence Jones to cover one of the small protests. Jones is also the editor in chief of Campus Reform.

Jones was invited on The Hannity show to discuss what he saw at the anti-Trump protests, where he discussed the hateful comments he received from unhinged white liberals.

Many of the protesters Jones interviewed couldn’t give legitimate responses to simple questions like why President Trump should be impeached or what crimes did he commit?

Answer to Jones’ question about why President Trump should be impeached ranged from, “Because he’s an illegal President,” to “because he’s affected justice,” and “he conned his way into office.” But the true colors of the angry came out when leftist protesters told Jones, they’ll tell you-you should “go back to Kenya,” and that he should “go back to Fox News where there’s more cotton for you to pick.”
