very sad
in 2010 his son beat the crap out of his mom (ex-wife) with a baseball bat and unplugged the phone so no one could call 911. fled the house and later claimed the mom had been harrassing him for hours before he beat her.
initially, shanahan took the son's side….got the kid a hotel and wrote a statement on his behalf to the attorneys which was reportedly never supposed to go public - but it did.
Son served 18 months at Florida sherriff's youth ranch and 4 years probation.
Prior to that - the ex-wife had been arrested for domestic violence for punching him (Shanahan) in face while asleep and lighting his belongings on fire.
WaPo was giving him shit for defending the kid.
