Whoo… Full blown subversion has been kicked into overdrive.

I am sure most of us know the drill, by now, but the best way to detect a "shill post" is to ask two questions:

"Does this post attempt to play on emotional outrage?"

"Does this post insinuate there is a target for my irritation?"

If the answer is yes to both, then it's probably a shill, or just someone in the mode of "misery loves company."

"Space elevators" are an enormous waste of time and effort. Coupled coil induction based acceleration as a primary stage for launch is far more useful and effective. Non-biological loads can be shot into a high parabolic trajectory and then boosted using small engines into an appropriate circular orbit. Biological loads would need to have slower rates of acceleration and would need a bit more fuel - but the system could be made to easily handle multiple mass classes.

With existing technology.

If I had a black budget, I'd already have several.
