That's a rather crude way of putting it. Hiveminds are detestable. Where people are willing to unite around a common goal and calling, however, an efficient course becomes available.
It's why parts of the "conspiracy" seem to both make no sense and yet otherwise be undeniable. Why would some artists choose this time to create certain works of art? Why would financial advisers wait until now to begin productions of certain shows?
Some of it can conceivably be planned, communicated, and acted out - but so much of it is simply a swelling of the tide that can only be understood when observing the cycle of the stars. It is "coincidence" that seeds the minds of the willful to construct what would become a "Hand of God paradox" - otherwise. Everything that must exist for the time sealed in destiny must come from somewhere - and this is the way in which the paradox is resolved.
Because our universe is rooted in probability, one can determine the future and the past will be forced into the most improbable of outcomes to satisfy that future point as a sequence of events determined from among the probable outcomes.
It's easier to call it magic, demons, and rituals, though. We are actually still lacking the proper math to work with these things and some brilliant mind will be, within the next few years, coming up with it so that we have it for when we will have already used it.
