JUDICIAL WATCH: New Strzok-Page Emails Reveal FBI Efforts to Muddle Comey Testimony on Hillary Clinton Email Scandal

Conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch received 345 pages of Department of Justice records that show top FBI brass attempting to muddle James Comey’s Senate testimony about Hillary Clinton’s email scandal.

Top FBI officials wrote Congress a letter to supplement James Comey’s testimony — and a few hours later, President Trump fired Comey as FBI Director.

The new emails also show the media colluding with the FBI — shocker!

Via Judicial Watch:

In an email thread starting at 6:34 a.m. on May 9, 2017, with the subject line “Comey’s Testimony on Huma Abedin Forwarding Emails Was Inaccurate – ProPublica” nearly a dozen top FBI officials scrambled to draft a letter to Congress about Comey’s May 3 Senate testimony.

This email thread was concerned with a May 8, 2017, ProPublica report stating that, “Comey’s most surprising revelation was that Huma Abedin — [Anthony] Weiner’s wife and a top Clinton deputy — had made ’a regular practice’ of forwarding ‘hundreds and thousands’ of Clinton messages to her husband, ‘some of which contain classified information.’ Comey testified that Abedin had done this so that the disgraced former congressman could print them out for her boss.… FBI officials have privately acknowledged that Comey misstated what Abedin did and what the FBI investigators found.”

After a flurry of emails, by 8:56 a.m. Comey’s chief of staff, Jim Rybicki, sent the group a draft letter for Congress, saying, “Below is a draft that has been reviewed by the Director. Please let me know your thoughts.” At 2:02PM, Asst. Director for Congressional Affairs, Greg Brower, asked his colleagues to review the latest iteration of the draft letter to the Senate.

The FBI was also colluding with the media, according to emails exchanged between counterintelligence FBI chief Peter Strzok and his paramour FBI lawyer, Lisa Page.

In an April 10, 2017, email exchange between Strzok, Page and other redacted FBI officials with the subject line “NYT Last Shot,” the FBI appears to be given a preview of an upcoming article in The New York Times.

[Redacted] emails Strzok, Page and others: Pete/Lisa, The editing is nearing completion and we have one last shot to hear what the end result is. Do you have time later today or tomorrow that is convenient for a listening session? Likely by phone in Mike’s office.

In an email on April 26, 2017, ProPublica reporter Peter Elkind sent the FBI a “fact check” list of items in preparation for a story he was working on about James Comey and the Clinton email investigation. Elkind describes the list as, “a first small batch of straightforward details for fact-check purposes.” Elkind notes that his information showed that Comey had “ordered up files on about 30 previous cases where government had investigated mishandling of classified information.”

In response to Elkind’s questions, four top FBI officials, including Strzok, Page and Kortan were assembled as a “quorum” to discuss.

The emails also show the FBI reacting to a Judicial Watch press release discussing how an FBI court filing revealed the existence of a grand jury targeting Hillary Clinton.

Chuck Schumer Filmed Cheering After Leaving WH Meeting On Iran

Senator Chuck Schumer was filmed cheering along with Nancy Pelosi on Thursday after leaving a meeting with the White House on Iran shooting down a US drone in the Gulf of Oman.

Schumer has consistently agitated against Iran and opposed Obama's Iran nuclear deal.

CNN reporter Seung Min Kim tried to explain it away by stating definitively on Twitter: "Schumer was telling Pelosi he was overjoyed because his mother had just been released from the hospital and is OK. Pelosi had asked how his mother, who had been rushed to the ER, was doing."

I'm gonna need at least two sources not directly connected to Schumer before believing that.

Schumer has always been a war hawk on Iran and he even went against his own president, Barack Obama, to take Israel's side over America's in opposing the Iran nuclear deal.

As Schumer said on March 18, 2018:

"The greatest threat to Israel in the short term is Iran, we know that. That's why I opposed the agreement, because Iran is such a danger," Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer said yesterday of his opposition to the Iran deal in 2015. Schumer spoke at a breakfast of the Council of Jewish Organizations of Flatbush, Brooklyn.

[…] "I am, Baruch Hashem [thank God] the highest ranking elected Jewish official ever in America. Tell you what a great place America is– my father was an exterminator, he didn't go to college, and his son is the highest ranking Jewish elected official."

"The greatest threat to Israel in the short term is Iran, we know that. That's why I opposed the agreement, because Iran is such a danger."

eBay collecting sales tax from 13 more states starting 7/1

Starting July 1st, eBay will automatically collect sales taxes from buyers whose shipping address are in the below states:

AL, AR, IN, KY, NM, OK, PA, RI, SD, VA, WV, WY, VT

Other states to be added to the list on October 1st: CA, ND, SC, TX, UT

Previous states added earlier this year: MN, WA, IA, CT, DC, NE, NJ, ID, NY

This will lower sales as buyers have an additional expense to account for. It makes purchasing off eBay a less attractive option when alternatives exist.

US war on Iran could cause ‘disaster’ in Middle East – Moscow

It’s hard to calculate Iran’s response to a potential US invasion, Vladimir Putin has said, adding that assaulting the Gulf state could bring “disaster” to the entire Middle East region.

There are voices in the US calling for a military action against Iran, but hopefully, such a scenario will never come true, Putin admitted on Thursday. An all-out invasion of Iran could trigger “a disaster in the region” due to the spike in violence and, possibly, waves of refugees fleeing for safety. That aside, “anyone attempting to do this” would also pay a price, he cautioned.

It is hard to foresee what happens if military force is used.

Iran is a Shiite country and Iranians have a reputation as people that go to extremes if their country is attacked, according to Putin. “No one knows what those extremes will bring and it’s hard to say who will be affected.”

Tensions around Iran have been rising since US President Donald Trump torpedoed the landmark 2015 nuclear deal and re-imposed sweeping sanctions targeting large swathes of Iran’s economy. Recently, Washington raised the stakes in the standoff, sending additional military assets – including a carrier strike group, a bomber task force, and Patriot missiles – to countries bordering Iran.

On the political front, the US keeps claiming that Iran has been violating the hard-earned accord which allowed sanctions to be lifted in return for Iran scaling back its nuclear program.

Putin, however, was critical of the American claims. Iran abides by the deal and “violates nothing here," he said, adding, “we think imposing any sanctions on Iran is unfounded.”

Pipeline From Foster Care to Child Sex Trafficking Highlighted in State Department’s Report

The State Department’s annual report on human trafficking pinpointed the prevalence of foster care history among child sex trafficking victims in the United States.

While in many other countries the report listed foster care among the tools used to protect victims of human trafficking, “in the United States, traffickers prey upon children in the foster care system,” it stated (pdf).

“Recent reports have consistently indicated that a large number of victims of child sex trafficking were at one time in the foster care system.”

Just one federally funded trafficking hotline received nearly 120,000 calls, texts, and other messages and identified close to 11,000 potential trafficking cases in fiscal 2018. The hotline reported over 3,400 cases to law enforcement and got a word back about more than 1,000 investigations opened as a result.

Among people vulnerable to trafficking in the United States, the report listed children in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, including foster care; runaway and homeless youth; unaccompanied foreign national children without lawful immigration status; American Indians and Alaska Natives; and drug addicts.

“Advocates reported a growing trend of traffickers targeting victims with disabilities and an increase in the use of online social media platforms to recruit and advertise victims of human trafficking,” it said.

(Little) Known Problem

Children in the social services system are the group with the highest prevalence of child sex trafficking, said Robert Lowery, vice president for the missing children division at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), a nonprofit that serves as a clearinghouse for reports on missing children.

Based on the incomplete data available, it appears traffickers seldom kidnap their victims. Instead, they often contact children on social media, groom them over time, and eventually lure them away. As a result, the children would be reported as runaways. They also target children that ran away for other reasons.

‘Peace on More-Favorable Terms’: Pentagon War Plans Include Limited Nuclear Weapons Use

An unclassified document published last week by senior US military leaders revealed the Pentagon has plans for the limited use of nuclear weapons in a conventional conflict to “create conditions for decisive results and the restoration of strategic stability.”

A document by the Joint Chiefs of Staff published on June 11 outlines how the US will strategically and tactically approach the question of nuclear weapons in a variety of conflicts. "Nuclear Weapons: Planning and Targeting” was quickly removed from the Pentagon’s website, but a copy was preserved by the Federation of American Scientists.

“Integration of nuclear weapons employment with conventional and special operations forces is essential to the success of any mission or operation,” the Pentagon document says.

Noting that both the use and the threat of use of nuclear weapons can have a significant influence on ground operations in a conflict, the document states that commanders must judge whether or not to introduce nuclear weapons into a theater of operations if they “could create conditions for decisive results and the restoration of strategic stability.”

“Employment of nuclear weapons can radically alter or accelerate the course of a campaign,” the document continues. “A nuclear weapon could be brought into the campaign as a result of perceived failure in a conventional campaign, potential loss of control or regime, or to escalate the conflict to sue for peace on more-favorable terms. The potential consequences of using nuclear weapons will greatly influence military operations and vastly increase the complexity of the operational environment.”

Penn. college offers 'Queering God' course

Swarthmore College offers a "Queering God" course, which focuses on, among other things, God's gender identity.

Another Swarthmore class, on which Campus Reform has reported, is called "Queering the Bible."

Swarthmore College offers a course on “Queering God,” most recently taught during the spring 2019 semester, that provides a feminist and queer perspective of the Bible, while also exploring God’s gender identity.

The course, taught by Professor Gwynn Kessler, questions whether God is a masculine or feminine figure through the examination of feminist and queer writings. Its course description says the class “stretch[es] the limits of gendering-and sexing-the divine.” Key themes of the class, also outlined in the course description, include gender, embodiment, masculinity, liberation, sexuality, and feminist and queer theory.

Wait what?

Schumer: Trump must get congressional approval before any military action against Iran

Democrats told President Trump in a situation room meeting Thursday he needs to get congressional authorization before taking military action against Iran, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said.

“I told the president that these conflicts have a way of escalating. The president may not intend to go to war here, but we’re worried that — and the administration may bumble into a war,” Schumer told reporters at Capitol Hill after the meeting.

“We told the room that the Democratic position is that congressional approval must be required before funding any conflict in Iran,” he continued. “One of the best ways to avoid bumbling into a war, a war that nobody wants, is to have a robust open debate and for Congress to have a real say. We learned that lesson in the run-up to Iraq.”

Trump invited congressional leaders from both parties and chambers to the White House situation room to discuss Iran after Tehran shot down a U.S. drone.

The Wednesday night incident added uncertainty to what was already a volatile situation in the region, heightening fears of a military confrontation between the United States and Iran.

U.S. officials say the Navy RQ-4A Global Hawk surveillance drone was operating in international airspace above the Strait of Hormuz when an Iranian surface-to-air missile shot it down.

Iran holds the drone was operating in its airspace over the Hormozgan Province in southern Iran.

In his statement to reporters after the briefing, Schumer called on Senate Republicans to allow a vote on an amendment to the annual defense policy bill that would prohibit funds from being used for military operations against Iran without explicit authorization from Congress.

The amendment is being sponsored by Sens. Tom Udall (D-N.M.) and Tim Kaine (D-Va.), who were on the Senate floor at the same time as the briefing calling for a vote when the National Defense Authorization Act is debated next week.

“It's unfair to our troops to put them in harm's way with Congress hiding under their desk not being willing to state yea or nay about whether we should be engaged in hostilities,” Kaine said.

Thursday afternoon’s situation room briefing came after administration officials briefed congressional leaders on Capitol Hill in the morning.

Ahead of the afternoon briefing, Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) told reporters Trump invited lawmakers to the White House despite earlier briefings because “he wants input” on what to do.

"If he's going to plan on having some ideas on what he wants to do, he wants to make sure there's not going to be a lot of outrage that nobody else knew about it," Inhofe said.

House Democrats also held their own Iran briefing Thursday with a trio of former officials: former CIA director John Brennan, Iran deal negotiator Wendy Sherman and former ambassador William Luers.
