This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 5:40 P.M., Thursday, June 20th, 2019. Condition code is Blue. DEFCON 4.
There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time, however there are events occurring in the world theater which require closer monitoring.
Iran has shot down a large U.S. drone in international waters. This is the second downing in the last several days, with at least one other failed attempt recently. Coupled with either Iran or other rogue entities making attacks on shipping and other assets, the situation in the Middle East has reached a point where the DEFCON Warning System believes the public needs to make itself more aware of events in the area in the (unlikely) event that the situation gravely worsens.
At this time, The DEFCON Warning System does not believe that, should military action occur, that any action would lead to any kind of nuclear conflict. There is no evidence that Russia intends to insert itself into any conflict between Iran and the United States despite Russia and Iran being allies.
It is important to note, however, that Iran, should military conflict begin, will attempt to involve Israel. This always has the potential to conflagrate and involve any number of States or nonaligned entities.
The United States today said that it plans to respond to the attack by Iran, though it gave no hints as to what response that might mean. The United States did give Iran the opportunity to declare that the attack was an error or carried out by a rogue element, which Iran has so far declined to do. The attack was carried out by forces that answer to the Iranian Supreme Leader.
We will continue to monitor the situation.
The DEFCON Warning System is a private intelligence organization which has monitored and assessed nuclear threats by national entities since 1984. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack. If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.
