European laws determine social media policies in America

So much blame is placed on big tech companies regarding their tendencies to purge, silence, and censor users, particularly conservatives. This blame is correctly placed, but one of the reasons they feel they must do this is based on laws. While American free speech laws only prohibit things that can be dangerous such as “doxing” or outright threats, European laws go after a much wider range of speech types. They force these laws on big tech companies who want to operate there such as Twitter, Facebook, Google, YouTube, Instagram, and Pinterest.

And because these companies use the strictest restrictions to form their terms of service, the requirements of EU nations become requirements in America.
