There are odd jobs in suburban areas. You just need to apply yourself. Look for what is needed (a house painting job? tending the garden? Cooking for elderly? Running errands for elderly? Dog walking?, etc). At this point anything is better than where you find yourself. Maybe post your offerings on the supermarket bulletin board, the corner store, an old folks home, or a community center.
Offer transcription services online since you're good at typing.
I get the coddling thing… it's not easy to get out of that 'programming'. But you are an independent anon now, and you need to bitchslap yourself a couple of times across the face… something a father would do. Man up.
