LEAVENWORTH 10

The Leavenworth 10 are a group of former U.S. soldiers who were sentenced to federal prison for war crimes that they most likely did not actually commit. One of those men, John Hatley, is serving a life sentence for allegedly shooting four Iraqi prisoners and dumping their bodies in a canal. However, not only is there scant evidence that Hatley committed this crime - a team of U.S. Army divers found NO evidence that such a crime was even committed at all!

Clint Lorance is another former soldier incarcerated at Leavenworth. He was convicted of 2 murders for ordering his men to shoot people he believed to be enemy combatants. The Army claimed that the killed men were civilians, and thus Lorance was wrong. However, Lorance's attorney says the prosecution hid evidence that the men's fingerprints were found on parts of explosive devices. If the lawyers had been honest, Lorance probably wouldn't be stuck in federal prison.

These men and others like them could be freed by presidential pardon. Obama pardoned Chelsea Manning, who leaked military secrets, but never helped these men who served our country to the best of their abilities. Today, you can sign the petiiton asking President Trump to pardon the Leavenworth 10.
