New Proposed Federal and State Small Cell Antenna Laws will Remove Local Control
Only a handful of companies control all of the telecommunications in America. This industry has pushed state and now federal legislation to remove local oversight for placement of cell towers stated to be “small cell” antenna. Although SB649 in California was vetoed by the governor, 13 other states have passed legislation in 2017 to alter or remove local control for placement and rent for cell towers on public utility poles and in rights of way (see below). The telecommunications industry argues they need to lower the cost of installations and move more quickly to serve the publics demand for more connection with 5G and Internet of Things. The FCC passed their 5G “FAST” planSeptember 2018 which removes local authority on placement, permitting, fees and shot clocks for cell towers and defines a special class called “small cell” that can have increased densification. The due date for cities to comply with new ordinances is March 14, 2019 however dozens of cities are involved with a lawsuit asking the court for a stay of action for the FCC ruling. Canadian Gov’t Gives Summer Job Funds to Suspended Islamist Org
The Islamic Society of North America-Canada received approval for 2019 Canada summer job funds. This is despite the fact that it is under a suspension by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) over concerns it funded terrorists in Pakistan.
The CRA, which is the Canadian equivalent of the IRS, suspended funding to ISNA-Canada from Sept.12, 2018 for a year, as well as imposed a fine of $550,000. Yet, the organization is set to receive a grant of $25,787 from Employment and Social Development Canada in order to create five summer jobs.
These sanctions were imposed following an audit, which showed that ISNA-Canada transferred funds to Kashmir, where Hizbul Mujahideen militants, listed as a terrorist organization by India and the European Union, have been fighting Indian troops.
However, the story extends back many years. In 2011, after being audited as part of an investigation led by The Star, a Canadian newspaper, it became clear that only a quarter of the charity funds donated to ISNA-Canada were going to help the poor, while the rest was diverted to private businesses.
Following this investigation, in September 2013, the CRA revoked the charitable status of the ISNA Development Foundation.
But today, ISNA-Canada is being rewarded with government funding.
John Barlow, a critic of the program, wrote a letter to Employment Minister Patricia Hajdu expressing his concern. “Under your ministry” wrote Barlow, “summer camps for children and faith-based charities have been deprived of summer job funding … meanwhile a suspended organization with possible links to terrorism has received a substantial federal grant.”

Pompeo will assure India on H1B visa cap: official
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will assure the Indian leadership during his visit to India next week that the Trump administration has no plans to impose a cap on issuing the highly sought-after H-1B visas that are forcing foreign companies to store data locally, an American official said Friday.
The H-1B visa, popular among Indian IT professionals, is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to employ foreign workers in speciality occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise.
"Indians have contributed under the H-1B programme to the US economy, and I think the Secretary will be able to assure the Indian leadership that we have no plans to place caps on H-1B work visas for nations that are having foreign companies store data locally," a Senior State Department official told reporters during a conference call.
Previewing the trip of Pompeo who will be visiting India from June 25 to June 27, the official said there was a broad review of the H-1B programme underway, but it is not targeted at India.

According to Tom McGregor, a Beijing-based political analyst and senior editor for China's national broadcaster CCTV, this is not actually the case: the PBOC is preparing for a new perfect storm in the global economy, seeking to use gold as a hedge, the analyst believes.

A firewall used by the CIA to communicate with its spies in China compromised their identities and contributed to their executions by the Chinese government, several current and former intelligence officials told Foreign Policy magazine in a report published Wednesday.
In a two-year period starting in 2010, Chinese officials began accurately identifying spies working for the US.
Chinese authorities rounded up the suspects and executed or imprisoned them before their handlers were able to determine what was going on.
"You could tell the Chinese weren't guessing," one of the US officials said in the report. "The Ministry of State Security were always pulling in the right people."

On the one hand you are worried because you know many stories of American IT workers losing their jobs to outsourcing, but on the other you feel comforted that you've been loyal to SCE and provide a critical service. Then eight months ago they tell you that they are outsourcing most IT functions and that they want you, get this, to train your guest worker replacement. If you say no, SCE will terminate you with cause and you would lose not only a severance package but also eligibility for unemployment insurance. This is the common story I heard from many workers at SCE.
The work that the 400 SCE IT employees do isn't disappearing, instead it and their jobs are being taken over by foreign guest workers here on H-1B visas. Those guest workers are employed by the two leading India-based outsourcing firms, Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys.
