Trump announces delay of mass immigration raids that were to start Sunday

President Donald Trump announced Saturday that he would delay plans to begin mass immigration raids Sunday against undocumented families.

The president said on Twitter that "at the request of Democrats" the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) would delay the planned mass raids targeting people with deportation orders.

Two Department of Homeland Security officials told NBC News, however, that the raids were called off in large part because details of the plan had leaked to media. A second issue was that ICE did not have plans in place for detaining the 2,000 immigrants — mainly families — whom they were going to arrest and deport, the officials said.

Trump claimed on Twitter that he approved the delay so that Democrats and Republicans in Congress could work out a compromise on immigration policy — a deal that has so far long eluded the president and his allies. Trump said the deal would have to solve “the Asylum and Loophole problems at the Southern Border.”

If Congress is unable to strike a deal, “Deportations start!” he wrote.

Speculation from voat:

The order Q prescribed (post 1245) was (1) SA, then (2) NK, then (3) Armenia, then (4) Iran each as "rogue nuclear states." Look at what Trump did - as his first order of business - in Saudi Arabia. He forced a replacement of their king (I mean, what??) with his brother, the new King Salman, who along with his son, Crown Prince MBS, completely redirected a nation that had become dangerously close to al Qaeda and ISIS. It made a burgeoning crisis benign. It averted an existential risk to the US. It averted war.

On to NK. Trump disarmed the war drums there by liberating Kim from his handlers, again averting the growing risk of nuclear war.

The Armenia prime minister was removed, making way for a more pro-US prime minister.

And now, on to Iran, he is reorienting the US-Iran relationship to avert the risk of war. It is all about their nuclear programs and their status as a rogue state. He is working both ends of the Iran problem. Who can doubt that he'll succeed here like all the other places he told us he would fix?

Trump is marching down a prescribed path
