I've considered this before. How do we even know he and his story are legit? I mean, I believed it wholeheartedly back in the day, but I've seen a LOT of made up stuff intended to act out the giant script…who's to say this wasn't a role? Again, it DID seem very legit to me, but I wasn't as skeptical then.
There's also the issue of what you mention. Furthermore, if cloning exists at or near the full range of our wildest imagination, it could be a subsequent version of BO or whomever occupied BO, if ya know what I mean.
