If they used SUB because of the double meaning SUBcontractor and SUBmarine, I expect that the hostages freed are on a CIA nuclear submarine, the kind they were given permission to aquire and operate back in the 60's sometime. They ended up getting, I believe 2 from the manufacturer who was making them for the navy.

One sub fired a nuclear missile towards Hawaii from the North Pacific near NK, and was destroyed by either US THAAD missiles or perhaps the space jockeys dropped a tungsten chunk. I don't believe they use telephone pole sized tungsten rods but much smaller chunks, maybe just 1 or 2 kg.
