It helped me to understand something that I've always wondered.
Solomon's wisdom did not supercede his need for a savior, bc even though he was wise, he was still of a sinful nature as we all are.

If there is no God, then the Devil wouldn't need to divide us. Indeed, without God, the Devil wouldn't even exist, bc he is a fallen, rebellious angel.
This creates a paradox.
We can't believe there is a spiritual Devil without believing that there is a spiritual God.
Animals do not contemplate these thing bc they have no spiritual soul. People are created in the image of God, which means we are spiritual as well.
By saying what if the Devil created religion, I took that to mean , what if the Devil created the idea of a God existing. Maybe I did not understand your question.
IMO they are one in the same
God = religion
But religion doesn't have to be organized religion, as in an organized church.
IMO churches are as corrupt as people.
