A new undercover exposé by Project Veritas reveals that the company is programming its machine learning algorithms in order to avoid the "next Trump situation."

"We all got screwed over in 2016, again it wasn’t just us, it was, the people got screwed over, the news media got screwed over, like, everybody got screwed over so we’re rapidly been like, what happened there and how do we prevent it from happening again," said longtime Google employee and head of "Responsible Innovation," Jen Gennai.

"We’re also training our algorithms, like, if 2016 happened again, would we have, would the outcome be different?" she added.

Gennai says that Elizabeth Warren's proposal to break up Google is 'very misguided,' because "all these smaller companies who don’t have the same resources that we do will be charged with preventing the next Trump situation, it’s like a small company cannot do that."

Meanwhile, a Google insider who came forward to Veritas confirmed what they filmed Gennai admitting; that the company is using "Machine Learning Fairness" as just one of several political tools used to promote their political agenda by combating "algorithmic unfairness."

Of course, as Gennai puts it: "We have gotten accusations of around fairness is that we’re unfair to conservatives because we’re choosing what we find as credible news sources and those sources don’t necessarily overlap with conservative sources …"

As an aside, Project Veritas's James O'Keefe tweeted on Monday that Reddit has suspended their account.

Trump tells countries to PAY UP if they want US protection in Strait of Hormuz

Ever the businessman, US President Donald Trump saw something in the ongoing crisis in the Strait of Hormuz most others didn’t: a chance to rake in some cash by demanding foreign nations pay for “protection.”

Trump took to Twitter Monday to, once again, call out world governments for supposedly freeloading off the US, this time by allegedly getting premium American protection services in the Strait of Hormuz.

China gets 91% of its Oil from the Straight, Japan 62%, & many other countries likewise. So why are we protecting the shipping lanes for other countries (many years) for zero compensation.

While the plan has a certain mafioso quality to it, Trump did suggest the alternative that everyone defend their own ships from any of the future tanker attacks John Bolton blames on Iran.

The safety concerns come following explosions on two tankers from Japan and Norway in the Gulf of Oman earlier this month. While the US was quick to point the finger at its long-term regional enemy, Iran has firmly denied the accusations.

The Islamic Republic was, however, quick to claim responsibility when it shot down a US surveillance drone last week, an incident which brought the two countries to the brink of open conflict. While the US claims the drone was downed over international waters, Iran has given coordinates indicating that it had violated Iranian airspace.

Relations between Washington and Tehran have been severely strained since Trump reneged on the 2015 Nuclear deal last year and reimposed economic sanctions.

After a small flex over the US’ energy production, Trump’s Monday tweet also reiterated his ostensible demands on Iran: no nuclear weapons, and no sponsoring terror. His message comes as Secretary of State Mike Pompeo joins the paragon of peace in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia, to talk about curbing Tehran’s actions and influence in the region.

“I knew I was being tracked but naively didn’t think they were saving everything in a timeline,” says Google user Leslie Morgan Nakajima, of Capitola, California. “But to see everything there was pretty chilling. They had every store, restaurant and bar I had visited, and the exact times I was there. I was so freaked out.”

It is no secret that the tech behemoth, Google, is in the data mining business. From cookies to targeted ads, the amount of specific information they have on individuals is mind blowing.

While these “features” are marketed to users to improve their user experience, the Orwellian tracking systems employed by Google to do so are shocking, especially the location tracking and history.

By default, Google’s Location History function is turned off and users must ‘opt in’ to turn it on. However, many Google users report never turning it on, yet when they check their history, Google has been tracking them for months.

The reason Google users don’t remember turning it on is due to the fact that to use certain features and apps on certain devices, you will get a notification stopping you from using it — until you let Google track you.

As Jefferson Graham points out for USA Today:

For instance, Google Maps has a service called “Match,” which suggests restaurants based on your past dining experiences and tastes. If you click on it, Google sends you to Settings to allow Location History tracking.

Google also routes people to turn on Location History in exchange for “real-time traffic updates based on your current location,” or with Google Photos to “help improve auto-organization and search.”

The fact is that Google is totally upfront about this too. It is clearly defined in their terms of service agreement. However, most people never bother to read the dozens of pages of fine print before turning on certain features on their devices.

2 Eurofighter jets crash into each other over Germany

Two German Eurofighter jets have crashed in the northeastern state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the Interior Ministry has confirmed. The planes have fallen in a residential area, according to the German media.

The two German Air Force warplanes collided in the air over the small town of Malchow, located some 80km away from the German city of Schwerin.

“The Eurofighter [jets] collided in the air and then crashed,” a military spokesman told Der Spiegel magazine. According to the Defense Ministry, one of the jets crashed in a wooded area near the village of Jabel, while the other one fell 10km away, south of the village of Nossentiner Huette.

The wreckage of the destroyed aircraft has fallen in a nearby forest, where it apparently caused a fire. A video posted on social media by a local radio broadcaster shows plumes of black smoke billowing over a forest at the purported crash site. Some parts of the planes also hit a residential area, a local newspaper, SVZ, reports.

Both aircraft were part of the Air Force Squadron 73 ‘Steinhoff,’ stationed at the Laage base near the city of Rostok. They were performing a training flight when the incident occurred. The pilots reportedly managed to eject and are believed to have survived the ordeal. There has been no information about any casualties on the ground so far.

One of the pilots was located alive, the Defense Ministry confirmed. Hours later, the German Air Force said that the second pilot had been found dead. The surviving pilot had suffered some injuries and was taken to a hospital, according to the police.

A spokesman for the German Armed Forces, the Bundeswehr, also confirmed that the incident took place but did not provide any further information.

Mecklenburg Lake District, where the crash happened, is a popular German holiday destination known for its nature reserves.

Mexico Accuses Nicaraguan Diplomat of Failed Human Smuggling Attempt

A Nicaraguan diplomat is under investigation in Mexico in connection with a failed human smuggling attempt. Immigration authorities turned the consular official over to federal prosecutors, alleging diplomatic immunity does not apply in her case.

The arrest took place on Sunday morning in the southern state of Oaxaca at an immigration checkpoint, Mexico’s National Immigration Institute revealed in a prepared statement. According to authorities, Socorro Fuentes Gonzalez was driving a black automobile with three passengers. The vehicle had consular license plates when she was stopped.

In recent days, Mexico deployed a large number of Federal Police and national guard to assist immigration authorities in an attempt to stem the flow of migrants and asylum seekers making their way to the U.S. border. Part of the strategy led to various checkpoints being set up in southern parts of the country.

During the inspection, authorities determined the three passengers, two men and a woman, were Cuban nationals who entered Mexico illegally. At the time of the inspection, Socorro identified herself as a consular employee from Nicaragua and became an accredited diplomat in 2013, according to Mexican authorities. Authorities also revealed that Socorro had an expired visa but remained the Nicaraguan Consul in Tapachula, Chiapas. The Cuban nationals were detained pending further immigration proceedings while the diplomat was turned over to Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office (FGR).

UK academic faces dismissal over criticism of LGBT training in universities

A UK lecturer, who claims she’s been branded a transphobe by students after signing an open letter to the Sunday Times that criticized LGBT training, insists she will not “recant” her signature despite the risk of being fired.

Sarah Honeychurch, a fellow in the Adam Smith Business School at Glasgow University, signed a letter along with 30 academics registering their “disquiet” over a program run by the charity Stonewall.

In the letter, Honeychurch and her colleagues condemn the “anti-scientific claims” that are “presented… as objective fact” contained in the training literature. The lecturer is unrepentant, insisting she had given the letter much thought before signing it.

I’m not going to recant — I signed that letter after hard thought because people get so much abuse simply for wanting discussion.

It comes after Honeychurch, who is an editor of the journal Hybrid Pedagogy, received a formal email from the managing editor of the publication, Chris Friend. He tells Honeychurch that unless he has misunderstood the intentions of the letter, “I must ask that you resign your position as editor for HPJ.”

Guidance included in the training program instructs academics to use gender neutral pronouns such as “zie” and “ey,” as well as insisting that “one in 100 are born with an intersex trait.” In addition, trans women should be allowed to use female changing rooms.

Honeychurch said she had been labeled a transphobe by students for signing the letter and remained concerned that her Glasgow university contract might not be renewed.

Another signatory to the letter, Michele Moore, honorary professor at Essex University, is also facing calls to resign after warning that autistic and other kids might be harmed if they are wrongly encouraged to question their gender.
