For what it is worth and you are not paying me so factor that in. :). Old fag here who grew up before Tv until then black and white TV. Back when you walk to school and met the bully on the corner on the way home and let him have it to never be bothered again. No one bothered you they would say about time he learned his lesson. I have watched as you argued about 8 ball racks. Well in every little town back when I was a kid including ours. There was a pool hall. Snooker tables and 8 ball tables. People came in to have a cool one and play for money on the end of the table. Being a kid I was paid to sweep up and 25 cents for every table I cleaned up brushed down and set for the next group coming in the door. Just as with Bowling, you had snooker night Tuesday and 8-ball night on Thursday had 20 tables in front part of building and two and one in the back part of building that I was not allowed into. :). Now when you play 8 ball at a bar you can not play the one and fifteen. When your on real table with leather pockets you rack with the one and fifteen on either side of the 8 ball and they go in the side pocket opposite the rack. You lag for break and who ever makes the first shot is how the stripes and solids are determined for that game. If you have Solids you can make it in another pocket and then spot it to continue your turn but you can not make a play on the 8 ball until all your balls are down including the one in the side pocket assigned. Whoever told you that the ONE goes in front well he would be my mark to make money LOL. In the pool hall days 8 ball was for one on one fun and a quick challenge and Snooker is what you played for money. My goal as a kid was to someday have my own table. God blessed my soul and I am now teaching grand kids how to play a real game :). Pictures below of my table and the correct rack they way I was paid to rack. Kek to you buddy. Young people today say good ole days but we didn't have anything and I do not remember anyone else having much either LOL. When I got a job at pool hall at 9-10 my Dad said good bout time you start making some money LOL. We all had hand me down everything including bikes. Flats you fixed yourself or you didn't have a bike. Dad was gone working. Saturday was baseball in the park pick up games with whoever brought the bat or ball was automatically a captain of one team and you choose up teams attempting to not choose the fat boy LOL. ;). Now I guess he would get the participation award :).
