Gohmert Responds to Undercover Video of Google Released by Project Veritas

Washington, June 24, 2019

Congressman Louie Gohmert (TX-01) released the following statement today regarding the undercover video of Google released by Project Veritas:

“This video shows Google’s biases are now a threat to a free and fair election, all while they hide behind the immunity given by Congress years ago when they were supposed to be a simple ‘town square’ where everyone’s voice could be heard without biased results. In fact, Google references a significant role they see themselves fulfilling in the 2020 elections. This discovery should set off alarm bells throughout the country. It is no secret that Google has a political agenda. Multiple brave tech insiders have stepped forward and exposed Google’s censorship of content and specialized algorithms. This media giant’s ‘social justice narrative’ should distress all Americans who value a free and open society. Google should not be deciding whether content is important or trivial and they most assuredly should not be meddling in our election process. They need their immunity stripped and to be properly pursued by class action lawsuits by those they have knowingly harmed.”

Former German domestic intelligence head Hans-Georg Maassen has called for a parliamentary inquiry into Chancellor Angela Merkel’s 2015 migration policy.

The former president of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) said that due to the significant consequences of mass migration in Germany today and going forward, those who made the policies in 2015 must be held to account for any mistakes made, Nordkurier reports.

“If you’ve made a mistake, then you have to stand by it, even as part of a committee of inquiry,” Maassen told the paper.

He is not the first to call for such an inquiry. Both the libertarian Free Democrats (FDP) and the populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) have made similar requests but both have been rejected.

Along with rooting out those who may have made mistakes during the height of the migrant crisis, Maassen said that an inquiry could also put conspiracy theories to rest and possibly cool the social climate in the country as well.

In order for a parliamentary inquiry to take place, around a quarter of the German parliament, the Bundestag, would need to vote in favour of the motion.

Mr Maassen became well-known across Germany after expressing doubt over Germans “hunting” migrants during a riot that occurred following the killing of a local man in Chemnitz by an asylum seeker.

Bolton: US would like Iran forces out of Syria

U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton says “the United States would very much like to get rid of foreign forces from Syria,” an apparent reference to Iranian troops there.

Bolton’s comments Tuesday at a press conference in Jerusalem came after his Russian counterpart urged the United States and Israel to show “restraint” toward Iran.

The high-profile trilateral security summit focused on Iranian involvement in conflicts across the region, particularly in neighboring Syria.

Differences between the sides quickly emerged. Israel has long called for Iranian forces to be removed from its northern front and Bolton says the Iranian forces are “a problem in Syria.”

The Russian envoy, Nikolai Patrushev, responded by saying that Iran had fought against terrorists on Syria’s soil and was “stabilizing the situation” there.

The summit comes amid escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran in the Persian Gulf.

German authorities believe a large Asian food market on the outskirts of Berlin is a way station for a human trafficking network bringing hundreds of people, including minors, from Vietnam to Western Europe.

Investigators told the public broadcaster RBB24 that organized criminal networks use the Dong Xuan Center, a wholesale market where about 250 traders from across Asia do business, and other locations in Berlin to bring people into Germany via Russia, the Baltic states and Poland.

"We have evidence that these cases are in association with other cases nationwide, and that with the use of criminal trafficking methods underage people are brought illegally to Germany to work in nail studios," Michael Bender, spokesman for the German Customs Office, told RBB.

A Polish border officer told RBB24 that the price for being smuggled to Germany can run €10,000-€15,000 ($11,300-$17,000), costs that are either covered by families back home, or have to be worked off during the journey or on arrival. In some cases, the trafficking victims are forced to commit crimes to pay off their debts.

According to one senior investigator, quoted anonymously by the broadcaster, orphans and street children are sometimes picked up in Vietnam and brought to Germany after they had been "ordered" by criminals in Western Europe.

A trial is currently taking place in the Polish city of Poznan, where one victim testified that a trafficker had spoken to him in his village promising work in Europe, in exchange for which his grandmother had been forced to sign over her home. One of the defendants at the trial, a Pole, named the Dong Xuan Center as an important way station, RBB24 reported.
