ill tell you this right now… i just finished a mech eng degree… i look forward to working with metal… and i plan on buying a CNC and lathe machine so i can "metal-bash" is some form… because i get a sense of pride in building something that works… to be able to test new ideas… to learn how to process raw materials and customize them to my designs
and no its not always going to be glorious… or fun for that matter… or even safe
because when you come down to it… its an art even if you dont see it… getting the metals mixed just right in the right quantities … rolling and pressing/rolling the materials at the correct temperature and cooling at the correct rate to properly to yield an even set of desired properties over the piece of material so it doesnt fail
im sorry you dont take pride in it… but even then… there are other jobs out there… but the truth is… with your attitude .. there probably isnt a single one that will make you happy even if it was sitting around scratching your nuts drinking beer
