Your argument presupposes that the Catholic Church, and Rome, have always acted in good faith, and would never stoop to manipulation of documents or history. Such a position is demonstrably false.

Or your argument could be to blindly assume that God would never permit the Bible to be manipulated, even though there is no statement in scripture to support such a position?

There presence of some documents, and their acceptance by evil men, is not evidence that other documents could not also exist.
