This is true because you didn't hit the 8 ball first and break that rule to loose and you can't get the balls out and put them back on the table like with a real leather pocket table so most bars simply have that rule to settle bets made on a game. I have only seen it happen once or twice and you must make your break from a extreme angle left or right to have a chance of 8 in the corner normally.
