Have been able to confirm that the life-preserver for the yacht REVERIE showing its home port as Opana Pt., Hawaii is legit. The one on Maui.
Had much confusion narrowing search down to the correct Opana Pt. due to the fact there are a few in Hawaii. Kept getting persistent redirects to the infamous Opama Pt on Oahu of Pearl Harbor fame. The one that saw the attack coming but whose warnings were ignored. A creepy concidence considering the false missile scate in January 2018. But wrong island.
Have not been able to say why owner chose to state Opana Pt as the home port because the only place he could moor his yacht looks like Kahului Port. So the named home port is still a mystery as to why. There is definitely an Opana Pt but no marina.
Was only able to confirm by locating the owner, a Mr Dwight Baum and finding he has 2 addteses and 2 PO boxes there on Maui. 3 of the addreses are in rown called Paia, Maui, HI 96779. The other PO box is in Wailuku, Maui, HI 96793 on the other side of Kahului Bay and port. The two home addresses are next to each other and one is quite modest so I suspect it is just a neighbor acting as a maildrop.
Mr Baum may be interesting in rhat public records show him to be a director at California Water Service Company, a subsidiary of California Water Service Group, based in San Jose, which also has a subsidiary in Hawaii which services Maui and parts of The big island and Kona. So a Hawaii company is a subsidiary of the Calif. Water Svc Grp.
