Very similar abuses happen in the US. I have not heard of such elaborate concocted stories of abuse as described in the Italian story. However, I have seen reports of US CPS workers lying to children in order to get them to believe their parents don't want them any more. CPS can be used to deliver vulnerable children to traffickers.
