STAR WARS comes out
The Solar System, produced and directed by Thomas G. Smith for Encyclopaedia Britannica Films, is released. The film depicted an imaginary flight through our Solar System and required special optical effects. The film was a masterpiece and became the producer's basis for hiring the Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), a company producing visual effects for films such as the Star Wars and Indiana Jones films. The producer and director of The Solar System also was the executive producer for the film and Disney theme park attraction, Honey, I Shrunk The Kids.
