before you get into jargon, observe the very simple experiment (pic related).

the cardboard close to the bulb creates wider-spaced light-pockets than the hole-spacings within the cardboard. As the light source is moved far away the hole spacings within the cardboard and the lightpockets are equally aligned.

 

This situation is analogous to the clouds (cardboard) and the sun (bulb).

see pic. perspective works along the Z axis. But parallel lines along the Y axis stay parallel.

Therefore if the sun was far away, there can be no local hotspots. perspective cannot explain this.
