I wanted to thank you for reposting this. It was the first I'd seen it. Now it makes sense why my wife and I are literally miles apart in worldviews even though we technically had similar upbringings and should be able to agree on much more than we actually do.
We're both Conservative Christians. However, the gulf between us starts at Television. I hated television. Being hard of hearing I have to read the captions and it's a royal pain in the ass. I MIGHT watch 3 movies a year. I didn't even own a television for 10 years of my life, and growing up the television was covered with a blanket and watched VERY rarely.
Her, on the other hand, has all of these "favorite shows" she likes to watch. She just got done with Netflix and the Great British Baking Show or something like that. She loves watching Big Bang Theory. Sometimes I'll see her watching something and they'll come on talking about things that are totally against what are supposed to be "our" beliefs and I ask why she's watching that trash. Always, no response.
I read the news, research, and get on the chan in my free time. She, without fail, will watch television for 80%+ of her free time.
And then I wonder what the fuck is going on. Oh… she's a fucking mind-programmed bot that can't think reasonably or anything. I try to discuss things I find on the chan with her and she will have none of it. "Do you want to know what I read….." ….. "Shut the fuck up I don't want to hear a damn thing about the chan"'' Don't you want to learn anything new? ''No I dont… I spent 4 years in college and I'm done learning' are a couple typical conversations around here.
