You're right, Mandela effect. I could've sworn that Memorial Day fireworks were a normal thing – meant to close out the day in celebration of their lives, while the solemn mourning and remembrance would occur earlier in the day.
Nonetheless, that narrows the field down to two evenings per year that people hear booms and think "ah, fireworks" instead of "WTF is happening!?!"
