It's just another destination for a beach vacation. There are plenty of good pepole everywhere. If you always went there, and you always spent your time there, it's rather nice, I suppose.
If you go there and want to be 'part' of 'it', that's what you might get wrong about the place.
You can't really do a 'buy in' to the kind of creepy 'I have mine , screw you' mentality of some who go to such a place.
But all in all, it's just anohter beach in life. Rather hard to get there. And in Summer, whats the point unless you know people who just want to spend some time with family. Not a bad place to go to. It's easy to get there for a day or two, hard to get there just for the day. But you can. you take a ferry over. I suppose if you were John Kerry you could wind serf there.
It's just another 'nice beach' place.
and like all such places wealthy people like to set up their centers of control and dominance.
Not everyone there is creepy. But yes, if you want pretentious snobs, do go there.
But for the most part even the pretentious snobs can be very nice, if they don't think you're a gold digger, a junkie, or a hustler.
Nothing really creepier there than other 'close to the beach' east coast towns where incomes are high.

It's a great place to go and be at the ocean.

you could take ferries from Providence to Pt Judith to Woods hole to Martha's vinyard, to Hyannis, to Nantucket, all in s a grand tour, say with bikes, and have a wonderful week of touring.
