He temporarily dropped out of the 1992 race due to threats against his daughter. Even so, he got an amazing 18.9% of the popular vote as an independent in a rigged two-party system.
In 1996 he had no chance after the two parties excluded him from the debates, but still won a very respectable 8% of the vote.
