I know the military did. It was common for us to fill in our logs post flight and debrief. Often was just given a reminder during debrief to ensure they were up to date.
For us it was more for training and logging flight hours as there were strict requirements to stay certified for a plane.
The key for identifying bodies would be the flight manifest which gives a listing of all bodies and cargo.
