An occasional baker anon here, with a question about the new bread format. First, a couple of notes for clarity about my question:

a) I know there's lots of controversy about the change. For the purpose of this post, I'm totally ignoring that controversy. I'm not advocating for any position – as an occasional baker, I'm only seeking clarification about the current policy as it stands, so I can execute the new process correctly if I bake

b) I know that my question may have been addressed already. I've rooted around, and so far come up empty – all the controversy is kind of making a lot of waves and it's hard to find other stuff

OK, with that out of the way …

Are bakers supposed to collect notables, and if so, are they posted only in the new notables thread (e.g. not near the end of the bread from which the notables were collected)?

I see that all anons are allowed to post full notables buns covering a full bread to the new notables thread. But what is not clear in that, is if it's still a baker responsibility to create a notables bun at all.

There was some movement before towards having "helpers" gather notables, while the baker focused on the mechanics of putting fresh bread in the oven. But it's unclear if this is a complete split of responsibilities between "baker anon" and "notable gathering anon" (acknowledging an anon can dual-hat the two roles) where no one really cares if bakers gather notables anymore, or if there is still an implicit or explicit assumption from BO that accepting a handoff includes a responsibility for making notable buns.

This may seem a trivial question, because most of the time if I'm baking of course I'd continue to gather notables. But especially late night I've done some emergency bakes using other anons' gathered notables when there was no baker around. So knowing if the baking responsibility includes a notables responsibility does have some impact on when I'd accept a handoff or jump in to bake in a ghost kitchen. And I figure there's a clear answer, just haven't found it …
