So you can tell from these WINDOWS and the FAKE DOOR that this building doesn't have access points. Or you have to step through a window? Because that's normal.
I'm pretty convinced this building is the "maintenance shaft" for the underground compound.
If there is an underground compound it needs to have a ventilation system, etc. A ventilation system on an island is a HUGE red flag to anyone peeping because it basically means 100% there is an underground facility. You can probably even gauge the size of the facility based on the size of the ventilation system.
By putting a stupid box on top of the ventilation shafts you hide everything in plain sight. Large windows can be opened when the system needs to run, maybe the windows are really leaky and they can even be closed and it'll vent just fine.
Just my thought, given everything we know. This image clearly shows that there is nothing in there and it doesn't look like it's built for any comfort or use beyond just being there...
That and if there is an underground facility, there MUST be ventilation shit.
