This deal was the death of the AFL literally KILLED the league. Promised as promoting the AFL to compete with the NFL and other sports on a moar level field, the network deal and other aspects of Wasserman's involvement was a set-up to take out the league and any competition for the NFL. [among the promises, NFL would use the AFL as a recruitment league- never happened]
The NFL and its history with the AFL is long and heated. Around the AFL's 20 year mark, it had grown and was taking fans away from the NFL and offered a moar fan-friendly atmosphere and much moar affordable pricing.
We all know how disingenuous the NFL is and this Wasserman injection was the plan to take the league out- NO DOUBT HERE.
The man who invented the sport was blackmailed and publicly shamed over a racist set-up. Tim Marcum was reduced from owner and head coach (6-time title winner) to assistant coach in another market and then died suddenly in his prime.
Marcum had been be-friended by Charlie Christ- look for his take-down associated with this government goon.

Wasserman was head of the LA Avengers when player AL LUCAS died during a LIVE game, on the filed in front of fans.
His previous coach and founder of the AFL TIM MARCUM died suddenly a few years later.
Wasserman infiltrated the AFL and took it down because the AFL was taking market-share from the NFL.
