IIRC, it was originally put out by WaPo/NYT/whoever as an 'explanation' that the texts weren't what they appeared to be, that the conversations were just some sort of cover for an affair. I think people gave up on that angel - but I noticed in this last set that was revealed there's talk of setting up a dinner party with the Flynn judge, and PS tells LP that she'll be invited. Then she says "six is a perfect number" for dinner - wouldn't that imply they were talking about three couples? PS/wife, LP/wife and Judge/Wife?
