Trump allows Rand Paul to be back channel with Iran
President Trump has tasked Rand Paul with reducing tensions with Iran as Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif visits the U.S. this week.
The Kentucky Republican senator pitched the president on being a back channel between the two countries during a round of golf this past weekend, Politico reported Wednesday.
Trump agreed to the idea after months of trying to start negotiations with Iran after his administration pulled out of the nuclear deal and imposed new sanctions on the country.
