Angela Merkel, Justin Trudeau Back ‘Squad’ After Trump’s ‘Go Back’ Tweets

World leaders are expressing support for four far-left Congresswomen in the wake of a series of comments in which President Donald Trump challenged the lawmakers to leave the United States if they continue to criticize the country.

On Friday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel claimed President Trump’s remarks about the “Squad” — made up of Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) — “undermine America’s strength.” She also said she stands “solidarity” with the lawmakers.

“I distance myself from this decidedly and stand in solidarity with the women who were attacked,” Merkel said in her remarks at a press conference in Berlin, according to CNN. “US’s strength lies exactly in the fact that people of very different nationalities contribute to the strength of the American people.”

Donald Trump: New York Time’s Thomas Friedman ‘Kissed my A..’ Before Calling me ‘Racist’

resident Donald Trump berated New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, recounting a phone conversation he had with the economist while playing golf.

“Two weeks ago, while speaking to a friend on his cell phone, I, unfortunately, ended up speaking to Friedman,” Trump said. “We spoke for a while and he could not have been nicer or more respectful to your favorite President, me.”

Trump described him as Thomas “the Chin” Friedman and said he was “a weak and pathetic sort of guy.”

He specifically criticized Friedman’s column noting the fear Trump would be re-elected because of his economic policies, even though he was a “racist.”

“I wasn’t surprised to hear so many people expressing fear that the racist, divisive, climate-change-denying, woman-abusing jerk who is our president was going to get re-elected, and was even seeing his poll numbers rise,” Friedman wrote.

Trump ripped Friedman’s two-faced approach.

“Really Nasty to me in his average I.Q. Columns, kissed my a.. on the call,” Trump wrote about Friedman. “Phony!”

Pete Buttigieg Writes Off Donald Trump Supporters as ‘Committed Racists’

Mayor Pete Buttigieg dismissed supporters of President Donald Trump Wednesday who chanted “send her back” in response to Rep. Ilhan Omar at his political rally.

Asked by a reporter if he would try to win over the Trump supporters who engaged in that chant, Buttigieg said, “No.”

“The reality is there are a lot of committed racists whose vote I’m never going to get and that’s alright,” Buttigieg said.

Buttigieg commented on the controversial chant as he campaigned in Indiana after the president denounced it on Wednesday.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot: Gun Control Hasn’t Failed Chicago

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot rejects claims gun control has failed her city and instead blames states without as many gun laws.

In an interview posted by New This News only days removed from a weekend in which 41 were shot, nine fatally, in Chicago, Lightfoot blamed Chicago’s gun crime on Indiana. She described Indiana’s laws as too lax, and suggested the laws allow criminals to travel out of state, acquire guns, then return and use those guns criminally on the streets of Chicago.

Lightfoot then suggested more federal gun control is the central solution for Chicago gun crime, that universal background checks must be enacted from the top down.

Mexico has top-down gun control. The country has universal background checks and one gun store, and CBS News reports the store is the “one place in all of Mexico where you can legally buy a gun.” Despite these things, Mexico witnesses 94 firearm homicides a day compared with the 30 to 33 firearm homicides daily in the U.S.

Mexico’s example is a stark reminder that gun laws, by their very nature, only impact the law-abiding. In the end they put the law-abiding in a more defenseless position, making them easier prey for the criminally-minded.

Al Green: Impeach Trump or House Members Could Be ‘Harmed’

Rep. Al Green (D-TX) on Thursday declared that he will be “marching on until victory is won” on impeaching President Donald Trump a day after the House tabled his impeachment resolution, which Green suggested is needed so that members of Congress are not harmed.

Green boasted that he got 95 Democrats to support moving forward with his impeachment resolution, which he said was up from 58 the first time he introduced articles of impeachment in 2017 and 66 the second time in 2018.

“We are marching on to 212,” Green said. “We are marching on until victory is won.”

Green, who has also said that the House should impeach Trump to “punish” the president, urged House members to vote against Trump’s “bigotry and hate” days after he said Trump’s tweets about the “Squad” and his words could incite or “cause others to act.”

The Texas Democrat told MSNBC this week that the first thing he sees when he enters his office is now with an officer with a gun. He said he had never had to have such security measures “before the president… started his rants.”

“I believe we must check him now or we will find someone being harmed, perhaps a member of Congress,” Green continued.

Vatican: Reject ‘Use of the Term Minority,’ Develop ‘Concept of Citizenship’

WASHINGTON, DC — Societies must end the use of the word “minority” and redefine the “concept of citizenship,” a top Vatican official argued Thursday at a religious freedom event hosted by the U.S. Department of State.

The comments from Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Holy See’s secretary for relations with states, came during a three-day summit, July 16 through 18, at the State Department — the second annual Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom.

Pope Francis has advocated globalization and warned against “nationalism that raises walls” as well as unfettered capitalism.

The pope appears to favor a blurring of international boundaries, urging wealthy countries to open their borders to everyone in need.

The pope has railed against rising populism and increasing hostility towards illegal immigration, suggesting Christians should reject sovereignty and embrace globalism to make the globe a better place.

During his traditional Christmas speech at the Vatican last year, the pope declared:

Our differences, then, are not a detriment or a danger; they are a source of richness. As when an artist is about to make a mosaic, it is better to have tiles of many colors available, rather than just a few! The experience of families teaches us this: As brothers and sisters, we are all different from each other. We do not always agree, but there is an unbreakable bond uniting us, and the love of our parents helps us to love one another.
