On Iran:

Recently there was news video from Iran showing the pedestrian traffic in a market, or perhaps just a busy street – I assume Tehran – and women were wearing head scarves but for most of them – traces of hair could be seen. This is a change from – maybe a decade ago – women would be arrested if they did not have complete coverage of their hair.

So

I'm thinking that the people are not experiencing the really repression kinds of treatment that was notable in recent history.

Maybe the regime hasn't been declaring their easing of oppression,

but there has been easing nevertheless.

Now, if only they would allow personal freedoms for the socially outcast. I mean, if they would decriminalize homosexuality to the extent that it is no longer a death sentence.

And stoning should end, as well.

Stoning is most often used on older women who are blamed by their tyrannical husbands of adultery – a stoning offense.

How any religion can practice such cruelty is the real blasphemy.
