Yes, I am troubled by it as a Christian.

 

If I thought the technology would only be used for noble purposes, I would be far less troubled.

 

Artificial wombs in some Sci-Fi literature (like the Vorkosigan series by McMaster-Bujold) portray it in a positive light. Parents and developing baby can interact differently prior to birth, especially fathers.

 

It might eliminate tolerance for abortion, because fetuses of all ages would be viable in an artificial womb.

 

Altogether, though, I think humanity should stick with natural childbirth, except when life of mother or baby could be saved by transfer to artificial womb.

 

What if humanity came to rely on the things, and women became physically incapable of giving birth? Or human babies came to have larger skulls that could not pass through a natural birth canal?
