Returning El Chapo's illegal money to Mexico is the same as returning it to El Chapo, whose personal attorney apparently has walk-in privileges with the president of Mexico? The cartels run that country. Even their president trembles.

In around 1998 I was in Aspen and went on a ski date with a local accountant who worked for the CFO of Fiji. Those operations were based in Aspen of all places.

She jabbered for hours riding the lifts.

She worked for a guy named Doug Carlson, who had previously been the CFO of Aspen Skiing Company. He has since died of cancer I have heard.

On a side note, the Aspen Skiing Company is owned by the Crown Family of Chicago that owns General Dynamics and manages and helps fund the Aspen Institute.

The chatty woman told me that Doug and his investors had bought a small resort (or island) in Fiji and subsequently realized that they had also purchased a large spring that the locals used for fresh water. Then they decided to bottle it.

If she ever said the investors' names I didn't know the names or wasn't paying that much attention. I knew Doug but didn't really know much about his work. Aspen is like that, a lot of shallow friendships. You know everyone, but not well.

Just remembered that story since the Bronfmans like buying Fijian resorts and are corporate experts at bottling. Now that Q is linking all those I thought I would add my little story.
