Temperature that low would NOT cause an issue; however, a sudden drop in load or (believe it or not) sun flares can cause it.

It can also cause issues w/Magnetic Azimuth Detection (MAD) systems on [unique] aircraft, before any maintenance, a call was placed to NORAD for the "geo planetary index"... If it was high, we didn't attempt to troubleshoot the problem.

If it was low, we had work to do...

They call it something else now and if you can find it, you'll see they track it literally minute to minute it changes so much and causes so many problems.
