Suspect indicted on 21 child pornography charges

PORTLAND, Ore. – A 30-year-old was arraigned Monday after being indicted on 21 charges involving child pornography, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office said.

Ryan Riewer is accused of taking sexually explicit photos of young children and getting other girls to send him nude and sexually-suggestive photos over the internet.

The district attorney’s office says the investigation started back in March 2018 when law enforcement got a cyber tip from an internet-based company that reported one of its users (identified as Riewer) was uploading child pornography.

According to court documents, Riewer had been talking with a girl in Tennessee online. She was 12 at the time. He allegedly sent her sexual images of himself and “compelled and induced the child into sending naked and sexually explicit photos of herself to him.”

In November 2016, investigators claim he took sexually explicit images of two relatives – ages four and one – and send them over the internet to people he’d been talking with online.

Court documents accuse him of talking with a 16-year-old girl in Washington State and coercing her into sending him a sexually suggestive photo.

“There is also evidence that showed Riewer attempted to obtain sexually explicit photos of minors by offering them money and/or gift cards on at least four occasions,” said Riewer.

He’s also accused of duplicating thousands of child pornography images and videos.

Riewer is facing 5 counts of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct, 4 counts of attempting to use a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct, 7 counts of first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse, and 5 counts of second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse.
