This has been nagging me since I woke up. Thought I'd toss it out for Anons to consider.
Yesterday, Trump sits down with Pakistani and US media and says Indian PM Modi asked him to mediate in the territorial dispute between Pakistan and India about the Kashmir region.
That statement was apparently false according to Modi, who refuted the claim in totality, and now has lodged a protest against the WH and State Dept.
WaPo, NY Times, and I think Huffington came out with articles shortly afterwards slamming Trump's credibility and intelligence.
It struck me as odd that Trump would use such a weak tactic to wedge the US into a 70-year old conflict in the middle east that's somewhat stable. I also wondered why he would give such easy ammo to MSM. No way he lied about something so major. No way he just 'made a mistake'.
Well, that one little comment caused a political tidal wave over in India.
When Modi came out and refuted Trump's statement, Indian Congressional leader Rahul Gandhi immediately spoke out demanding an answer from Modi, saying his denial was "weak".
If what Trump said was true, the PM would be guilty of betraying India's interests, and would violate the 1972 Shimla Agreement, which forbids 3rd party interference on the issue.
Trump's statement has Indian Congress opposition roaring for an answer as well.
With one sentence, Trump brought the entire Indian government to a boil.
''The real question is what's the angle?''
