I have seen some chatter about it here from various reporting sites. They all seem to be using the same source claim.

There was some talk yesterday of Marine amphibs in the theater. LHAs and some other fun stuff. While we could potentially stage an assault with what is in theater, it makes little sense to without a carrier in support. We would have to relay carrier wings through Iraq before they could begin CAS operations. The Air Force could do some with what is in Iraq, but I just don't see the kind of force deployment that one would expect to see leading into an assault.

Doesn't mean it can't be done… But it would be one for the history books if so. It would also stretch the powers of the Presidency by a massive amount. While Obama did do a lot to define the abuses that elements of DC would tolerate, I just don't see Trump following that example.

Thank you for this. I really struggle on finding good sources on American History, well just History in general. I know (or at least I think I do) how to find reliable sources on a specific topic which requires great effort at times, but have no idea what to trust for a good overview as you move era to era.
