The Southern Cross is a five pointed configuration.

The stars are alpha, beta, gamma, delta and epsilon.

You can see epsilon as the small star inside and between delta and alpha

I have put a faint red arrow pointing to epsilon with a blue smudge on it in the attached pic.

Don’t know if this info is significant or not but epsilon is an integral part of the cross plus the pointers go hand in hand with the cross.
