Agreed. I think if we weren't forced to give our income to the government (for shady ass things, no less) we would be more than generous with donations toward causes that need it.. infrastructure, charity, military, ect.
We can see evidence of this, in a way, when artists (like Radiohead I believe?) drop albums free of charge on a "pay what you want" policy… they end up making more than those who charge a fixed price.
