The word "Corn" is used to describe variety of different plants, actually. In The 'Merica, we refer to our everybody's favorite genetically-modified summer fad-on-the-cob, specifically as "Corn". However, in other regions of the world if you asked for "Corn" you might likely end up with something entirely different than you expect.
