I looked for days for where I could host it will several specifications, including: FREE, able to update in real-time, could make portions open for editing by public (it was open for a while, had to shut that down - long story). DAYS, all day long, every day. I found nothing. Gulag was a last resort!

Because it's not practical at all.
The spreadsheet is open to the public - you don't need a gulag account to view, search or even save it. It was and is a handy resource for those who have been following, can't into 8ch, but want actual answers instead of just reading the posts on an aggregator. You have no idea how big this movement is!! So this resource makes it open for everyone in the world - all the post links (+ archive), image links (full-sized), screenshots, everything, and the research anons find.
It's not pretty, elegant or for a glossy print-out or anything, but it's there and everyone can access it. And people can see it being updated in real time. They can save, share or export it to any format whenever they want. Maximum access, maximum exposure.
If I was to ONLY have it local and upload it here periodically, how would everyone in the public access it? And would you really download some file from 8ch without knowing exactly what it was??? I wouldn't!
It is what it is. It exists for the widest possible access in the easiest format whomever-created it could think of. I volunteered, they bailed out and it's been me this whole time since. If I was a codefag maybe I could automate something but I'm just a lowly archivefag, so it's the best I can do right now.
