Starts a new countdown to a new objective, the old objective being completed.
1 of the 5 dem "No" votes had a reason that's actually pretty sound.
New York Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand had a different set of issues with Wray. She told CQ Roll Call in a statement that her opposition was partly based on the FBI nomineeโs connection to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, as well as her doubts about Wrayโs willingness to stand up to Trump.
โA recent news report revealed that Mr. Wray received millions of dollars of New Jersey taxpayer money in secret while doing non-transparent legal work for Governor Christie, who reportedly later recommended him to the President. His actions raise serious questions about whether he can be counted on to reliably place the publicโs interest over what is politically expedient for the executive who hired him,โ Gillibrand said. โThis nomination is too important and I am not willing to take that leap of faith.โ

FBI director nominee still at work as Christie's Bridgegate attorney
TRENTON, N.J. โ President Trump's nominee for FBI director is still working as the New Jersey governor's personal attorney from the Bridgegate investigation, trial and aftermath โ seven months after jurors found two of Chris Christie's former aides guilty in a conspiracy to shut down George Washington Bridge access lanes.
Christopher Wrayโs law firm has collected $2.1 million from New Jersey taxpayers since being hired by Christie in 2014, including $653,034 for work both during the six-week federal corruption trial and since then, according to bills obtained by the Asbury Park (N.J.) Press under a public records request.
Wray, 50, was nominated June 7 by Trump to be James Comeyโs successor as FBI director. Wray needs to be confirmed by the Senate. A hearing has not been scheduled.
