Mystery Airstrikes On Iraqi Camp Were Israeli Stealth Jets In "Anti-Iran" Escalation

Regional experts had immediately suspected the possibility of an Israeli air raid after a pro-Iranian militia arms depot in Iraq was obliterated during a mysterious attack on July 19, and another reported follow-up attack this past Sunday.

The attack happened around 80 km from the Iranian border and 40 km north-east of Baghdad at Camp Ashraf, former home to the Iranian exile group Mojahedin-e Khalq, but now reportedly in the hands of Iranian intelligence and paramilitaries.

Speculation was rampant in the days that followed as to the source of the 'mysterious' air strikes - or what was also initially reported as a drone strike - however, some pointed the finger at an American operation targeting Iranian militants inside Iraq.

But now Israeli and regional media, citing western diplomats, have confirmed it was a nearly unprecedented Israeli operation on Iraqi soil — representing a major escalation and expansion of Israel's anti-Iran operations.

Israel reportedly launched a total of two separate air strike operations on the camp using its US-supplied F-35 stealth fighter jets.

According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz:

Israel has expanded the scope of its anti-Iranian attacks and struck targets in Iraq, the London-based Arabic newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat reported Tuesday.

According to the report, which cites anonymous Western diplomats, Israel struck Iranian warehouses storing arms and missiles at Camp Ashraf, north-east of Baghdad, twice in the past month.

On July 19, the base was struck by an Israeli F-35 fighter jet, the sources added. The base was allegedly attacked again on Sunday.

The report alleges the primary target included a shipment of Iranian ballistic missiles which recently entered Iraq via the nearby Iranian border.

And though not confirmed, the report further claimed that "Iranian advisers" had been injured in the series of airstrikes.

Trump threatens worse trade deal for China if Beijing stalls until after his re-election

US President Donald Trump has once again criticized China’s trade practices, warning negotiations could get tougher. The statements come as Beijing and Washington are headed into another round of trade negotiations in Shanghai.

In a series of tweets on Tuesday, Trump warned if China waits and he wins re-election, the trade deal will be much tougher for Beijing.

“China is doing very badly, worst year in 27 – was supposed to start buying our agricultural product now – no signs that they are doing so. That is the problem with China, they just don’t come through,” Trump wrote.

My team is negotiating with them now, but they always change the deal in the end to their benefit. They should probably wait out our Election to see if we get one of the Democrat stiffs like Sleepy Joe. Then they could make a GREAT deal, like in past 30 years, and continue to ripoff the USA, even bigger and better than ever before.”

US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer will meet on Tuesday and Wednesday in Shanghai with a delegation led by China’s Vice Premier Liu He.

According to Trump, “The problem with them waiting, however, is that if & when I win, the deal that they get will be much tougher than what we are negotiating now… or no deal at all. We have all the cards, our past leaders never got it!”

US-China Trade Talks Begin At Shanghai's Most Infamous Celebrity Hangout

When Steven Mnuchin and Robert Lighthizer meet with their Chinese counterparts in Shanghai this week, few observers expect that a breakthrough will be reach. That includes President Trump, who chided the Chinese in a tweet Tuesday morning to cut a deal before the 2020 election - or risk facing a second-term president with a strengthened popular mandate.

But in what appears to be an effort to distract from the lingering tensions over China's promised purchases of American farm products, or Trump's promise to remove Huawei from the Commerce Department's blacklist - neither of which have been kept - Bloomberg reports that the Chinese negotiators are pulling out all of the stops: They will be hosting their American counterparts at the Fairmont Peace Hotel Tuesday evening after the delegation arrives at another hotel on the Bund waterfront shortly after 1:30 pm.

The 1920s art-deco building, which used to be known as the Cathay Hotel, was described by Bloomberg as "one of the most celebrated buildings on the Shanghai riverside" and has hosted famous guests including Charlie Chaplin and Noel Coward. The hotel was briefly used as an administrative building during the early years of the People's Republic.

Pakistani military plane crashes in residential area, killing 17 as fire engulfs crash site

A Pakistan Army Aviation plane has crashed in Rawalpindi during a routine training flight, killing at least 17 people and injuring at least 18 more after a massive fire broke out at the crash site.

The military plane crashed into a residential area near Rabi Plaza in the early hours of Tuesday morning, killing the two pilots and three crew members on board and sparking a conflagration that soon engulfed five houses, according to local media. At least 17 people have been reported killed and 18 more wounded. A military statement confirmed the dead include five soldiers.

Rescue sources worry that the death toll may rise further as several people are believed to be trapped in the wreckage and some of the wounded are in critical condition, though fire and rescue teams have brought the fire under control and sent the injured to a nearby hospital. Authorities have declared an emergency in all hospitals in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The cause of the crash is not yet known; rescue officials report the plane “suddenly lost control with the tower.”

“We have shifted all the bodies and injured persons to hospitals,” emergency services official Farooq Butt told the AP. “Most of the victims received burn injuries and children are among the dead.”

Army helicopters were later seen hovering over the crash site and troops and police cordoned off the area after rescue efforts were completed in order to search for crash debris and other evidence.

US govt regulator ‘complicit’ in radioactive leak at S. Carolina plant

A leak at a Westinghouse nuclear fuel site is partly the result of inaction by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), which is tasked with protecting the public from radioactive waste, an analyst told RT.

“I think the NRC is complicit with companies like Westinghouse. They do minimal inspections. They miss things,” he noted, adding that such incidents illustrate how the nuclear power industry “is wasting the American people’s money left and right.”

Recently, a rusty shipping container full of uranium-tainted trash was found to be seeping radioactive sludge into the soil at a Westinghouse fuel rod factory in South Carolina, contaminating the groundwater beneath the facility.

Crazed A$AP Rocky fan who threatened to blow up Swedish Embassy in U.S. arrested

A lawsuit targeting a UK primary school for holding prayer sessions and biblical re-enactments has divided public opinion. RT panelists sparred over the heated issue of religion’s place in education.

“We must make sure that our people have access to the culture, the history – including the Bible – of our civilization,” Chris McGovern, chairman of Campaign for Real Education, argued.

Others took issue with Christianity being taught in schools. Describing the case as an example of “compelled worship,” Luke Gittos, a lawyer and legal editor of Spiked Online, said that the state was imposing its religious beliefs on young Britons.

An atheist couple brought the issue to light, as they are taking their children’s primary school to the High Court, claiming that Christian-themed activities during assembly are unlawful. Believed to be the first of its kind in Britain, the suit argues that all children have the right to receive an education “free from religious interference.”

Crazed A$AP Rocky fan who threatened to blow up Swedish Embassy in U.S. arrested

A fan of the New York rapper A$AP Rocky was arrested after she threatened to blow up the Swedish Embassy in Washington D.C.

Washington D.C. police say they’ve arrested a woman who has been identified as Rebecca Kanter for placing a bag down close to the entrance to the Swedish embassy in Washington, throwing liquid from a coke bottle at the doorway and yelling, “I’m going to blow this mother***er up.”

Kanter then returned to the embassy on the following day and screamed at workers while she protested the New York rapper’s recent arrest by Swedish authorities. She refused to leave the embassy’s premises until she was forcefully removed and taken into custody by secret service agents.

According to the Washington D.C. police, the woman was then charged with destruction of property and unlawful entry.

A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was arrested in Stockholm after a performance at a rap festival in Stockholm. The New York rapper and his entourage were involved in a street fight on the 30th June which ultimately led to his arrest. Mayers claims he and his group were being stalked by “drug addicts” while a member of his entourage claims that they had “no choice but to defend themselves”.

The incident made international headlines after U.S. President Donald Trump decided to get involved.

Trump foolishly slammed the Swedish Prime Minister on twitter after the PM refused to give Mayers any special legal treatment.

'President gave $16B in 2018 ALONE to Elijah Cummings's district in federal grants': Donald Trump's aide Lynne Patton asks what Baltimore has done with its financial help as POTUS' row with 'rat-infested' city escalates

An aide to President Trump said that the Baltimore region has squandered billions of dollars in federal grants given by the administration.

‘President Trump has given $16billion in 2018 alone to Elijah Cummings’ district in federal grants,’ Lynne Patton, a regional administrator with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, told Fox News on Monday.

‘We have given more money in homeless funds to Baltimore than the last administration’ as well as ‘community development grants,’ according to Patton.

She then took Cummings and the city leadership, including Mayor Bernard Young, to task, asking: ‘What are you actually doing with the money so that it benefits residents in the community for once instead of deep-pocket, crooked politicians?’

Trump was referring to a House Oversight Committee hearing from earlier this month during which Cummings grilled Kevin McAleenan, the acting homeland security secretary, over conditions at migrant detention centers near the southern border.

Trump then tweeted: ‘Baltimore’s numbers are the worst in the United States on Crime and the Economy.

‘Billions of dollars have been pumped in over the years, but to no avail.

‘The money was stolen or wasted. Ask Elijah Cummings where it went.

‘He should investigate himself with his Oversight Committee!’

Trump then tweeted a quote by Kimberly Klacik, a Republican and Baltimore resident.

‘I don’t know what it’s going to take,’ the quote read.

‘A lot of Democratic run cities all over America look like this, it’s not just Baltimore, unfortunately.’

Trump then tweeted: ‘Remember, Vote for Trump, what the h…. do you have to lose? Best unemployment numbers!’

The president aimed that remark at African American voters, most of whom traditionally support Democrats.

The row over Baltimore has also embroiled the Rev. Al Sharpton, the former civil rights leader who is now a commentator on the left-leaning cable network MSNBC.

Trump and Sharpton engaged in a war of words on Monday with the president claiming he hates 'whites & cops' while the famed black activist arrived in Baltimore to defend Cummings and charge Trump with having 'a particular venom for blacks and people of color.'

Trump went the attack after Sharpton tweeted he was on his way to Baltimore to defend the Democratic lawmaker after the president lashed out against him.

'I have known Al for 25 years. Went to fights with him & Don King, always got along well. He 'loved Trump!' He would ask me for favors often. Al is a con man, a troublemaker, always looking for a score. Just doing his thing. Must have intimidated Comcast/NBC. Hates Whites & Cops!,' the president tweeted.

His attack came shortly before Sharpton hosted a press conference in Baltimore with former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, an African American politician who also served as lieutenant governor of Maryland.

'He attacks everybody. I know Donald Trump. He's not mature enough to take criticism. He's like a child,' Sharpton said at the event.

'But he has a particular venom for blacks and people of color. He doesn't refer to any of his other opponents or critics as 'infested.' He does not attack their districts. He attacks Nancy Pelosi. He attacks Chuck Schumer. He attacks other whites but never said their districts or states are places no human being wants to live,' he added.

Half of China pigs have died!

The price of China’s favorite food is about to hit all time highs.

As a result of the decimation of Chinese pig herds, which have been crippled by the ongoing spread of so-called “pig ebola”, i.e. African swine fever which has crippled domestic pork production, RaboBank expects China’s pork prices to hit a record high by the fourth quarter of 2019 even as imports continue to surge.

Last Tuesday China’s customs data showed that pork imports in June surged from the previous year, as the world’s top consumer of the meat stocked up on supplies after African swine fever swept across the country’s pig herds. China brought in 160,467 tonnes of pork in June, up 62.8% from the same month last year, according to data from the General Administration of Customs. This was down 14% from 187,459 tonnes imported in May.

China’s pork imports for the first six months of the year came in at 818,703 tonnes, up 26.3% from a year earlier according to Reuters. Meanwhile, pork prices rose by nearly 30% in June compared with a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, with the spread of African swine fever showing no sign of abating, causing domestic production to plunge.

Retail pork prices have also increased in recent weeks but at a slower pace than whole sale prices, with prices up 34.6% from a year earlier at 27.29 yuan per kg as of July 10. And while China’s agriculture ministry is investigating local veterinary authorities in 10 provinces as it tries to slow the ongoing spread of the deadly African swine fever virus, few analysts expect it to succeed, and instead see prices rising even higher:

Websites using Facebook's 'like' button must get explicit permission from users because the feature sends customer data to the social media giant even if they don't click on it, Europe's top court rules

Europe's top court has ruled that websites using Facebook's like button must get explicit permission from users about the plugin as it collects customer data.

The European Court of Justice was examining the case against Fashion ID, an online German clothing brand, when it made the decision.

By having the Facebook like button on its page, Fashion ID ensured that its products would be more visible on the social media website.

Even if customers did not click the like button, data was transmitted to Facebook to say they had visited the page.

This data was sent to the social media giant 'without that visitor being aware of it and regardless of whether or not he or she is a member of the social network'.

The court ruled that Fashion ID, or any website with a similar button, 'must provide, at the time of their collection, certain information to those visitors such as, for example, its identity and the purposes of the processing'.

Despite this, it also ruled that Fashion ID is not responsible for what Facebook does with any data given to it as it is 'impossible' that it 'determines the purposes and means of those operations'.

Companies must tell users what their data is being used for to comply with the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into force in May 2018.

Under GDPR, companies are required to report data breaches within 72 hours, as well as to allow customers to export their data and delete it.

Part of the expanded rights of data subjects outlined by the GDPR is the right for data subjects to obtain from the data controller confirmation as to whether or not personal data concerning them is being processed, where and for what purpose.

Further, the controller must provide a copy of the personal data, free of charge, in an electronic format.

This change is a dramatic shift to data transparency and empowerment of data subjects.

Facebook's Jack Gilbert told Cnet: 'We welcome the clarity that today's decision brings to both websites and providers of plugins and similar tools.

'We are carefully reviewing the court's decision and will work closely with our partners to ensure they can continue to benefit from our social plugins and other business tools in full compliance with the law.'
