I agree. Home churches are wonderful. Needs can be met directly. The home environment is welcoming. I also agree about home schooling. I wish I had been able to do this all the way through with my family.

Not 100% sure this is relevant, but the location (Italy) near the Vatican would seem significant. It makes me think of this Biblical episode: 2 Kings 10:18-28 where the servants of Baal get destroyed. Q did post about it.
