>>What do I have to do to truly be saved?
Take everything with a grain of salt, anon. The world is full of people who will tell you that you must do what "god" tells you to do in order to be saved.
Let me ask you a rather simple question. Would you, born with knowledge of Good and Evil, per the scripture - choose to live with many of the people in our world? Allow me to make it a bit more simple.
For our judgment, we are all cast, naked, before each other. No act left unknown, no thought left unchecked. At first, that seems a terrifying prospect - we all have our acts we'd rather not be public and we all have thoughts we feel are not truly our own - or were born of a disturbed state.
But - all thoughts and acts known. Not just the ones we aren't proud of.
Given that - where we can truly sit down and understand the person we can't get along with, normally….
How many people do you think would be judged as evil? - IE - they truly desire to cause harm and suffering to others or their own advancement at any cost.
This doesn't make wrong things good - they are wrong because they are destructive to yourself and/or others - but the notion that you are going to be destroyed and eternally damned because you are human is just not very logical or sensible of God.
If we truly do have the knowledge of good and evil - then we can actually judge each other when given that degree of understanding. If we do not - then the basis for original sin is a lie.
Either way, the notion is nonsense.
Maybe there is a place with pearly gates and golden streets that offers people the luxuries of the afterlife for selling their soul. But that sounds an awful lot like a contract with a demon, to me.
